AISimilate currently uses a limited set of browser-storage technologies. On the current web app, the most important data is stored in browser session storage and browser local storage. Google Analytics cookies are used only if you accept optional analytics.
1. Technologies we use
- Browser session storage for current-session sign-in continuity.
- Browser local storage only when you explicitly choose to remember the device for future sign-in.
- Browser local storage for interface and quiz-preference memory.
- Browser local storage for your cookie notice and analytics choice.
- Google Analytics first-party cookies if you accept optional analytics.
- Google's own cookies on Google domains if you choose Google sign-in.
2. Legal basis and consent model
- Strictly necessary storage is used under the ePrivacy strictly necessary exemption and GDPR Article 6(1)(b) or 6(1)(f), because it is needed for secure sign-in, session continuity, logout, fraud prevention, preserving a setting you expressly request, and remembering that you already saw this notice.
- Optional Google Analytics runs only after consent in the relevant browser context. If you decline it, the Google Analytics tag is not loaded.
Rejecting optional analytics does not prevent you from using the core AISimilate service.
3. Current storage categories
| Name | Type | Typical duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
aisimilate_session | Browser local storage | Only when you explicitly choose to keep the device signed in. It may remain until sign-out, expiry, or browser storage is cleared. | Stores persistent sign-in data for a remembered device. This may include an access token valid for up to 12 hours, a rotating refresh token valid for up to 30 days, and a session identifier. |
aisimilate_session_tab | Browser session storage | Until the browser tab or session ends, unless replaced sooner. | Keeps you signed in during the current browser session without persisting that sign-in across browser restarts by default. |
aisimilate:vocabulary-answer-language | Browser local storage | Until changed or cleared by you. | Remembers whether vocabulary quiz answers should be shown in English or your native language. |
aisimilate_cookie_notice_v4 | Browser local storage | Until changed or cleared by you. | Stores that you already acknowledged the necessary-storage notice and your optional analytics choice for this browser and device. |
_ga | Google Analytics first-party cookie | Google Analytics default: up to 2 years, unless cleared sooner. | Used by Google Analytics to distinguish users after you accept optional analytics. |
_ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics first-party cookie | Google Analytics default: up to 2 years, unless cleared sooner. | Used by Google Analytics to persist session state after you accept optional analytics. |
| Google sign-in cookies | Third-party provider cookies | Provider-defined. | May be used by Google on its own domains to authenticate you if you choose Google sign-in. |
4. Optional analytics status
AISimilate uses Google Analytics measurement ID G-MK5LVJQXYF only after you accept optional analytics. The implementation blocks the Google Analytics tag until consent is recorded. Advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalization are not enabled by this setup.
5. Managing storage and consent
- Accept or reject optional analytics from the banner when it appears.
- Reopen the notice at any time with the button below.
- Changing your choice updates future Google Analytics behavior in this browser.
- Clear browser local storage or sign out to remove stored browser-side values.
- AISimilate attempts to clear common Google Analytics cookies after withdrawal; browser cookie controls can remove any remaining analytics cookies.
- If you choose "keep me signed in on this device", sign out to remove that persistent remembered-device session from the browser.
6. Retention and browser control
Browser-side entries remain on your device until you sign out, replace the value, or clear browser storage. Server-side session records may expire or be revoked earlier even if a related browser value remains on the device.
You can remove or block stored data using your browser controls, but doing so may sign you out or reset saved app preferences.
7. Updates to this policy
We update this policy when AISimilate storage practices, optional analytics setup, or legal requirements change. Material changes are reflected on this page with a revised date and, where appropriate, renewed consent prompts.
